  • Licensing system for UMTS/IMT2000 services

    http://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=5603 The provisions of Decision no. 128/1999/CE of the European Parliament and the Council, of 14 December 1998, are related to the co-ordinated introduction of a third generation mobile and wireless system (UMTS) into the Community. So as to comply with said Decision, the Board of Directors of ICP approved, on 23 December 1999, the general procedure regarding the licensing of UMTS/IMT2000 services which shall be directed by the following principles:

  • ICP licenses Sonae

    http://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=5906 The Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal granted two licenses to Sonae-Redes de Dados S.A. The first of these licenses attributed within the scope of the liberalization of the fixed telephone service, allows Sonae to offer this service as of the 1st of January 2000, under the terms of the decree-law nr. 381-A/97, dated the 30th of December. This license is attributed during a 15-year term, finishing on the 1st of January 2015.
