In the context of the staging of the Rock in Rio festival, by determinations of 6 and 14 May 2010 respectively, and subsequent to requests submitted by Vodafone Portugal and TMN, ANACOM decided to authorise the temporary licensing of networks for the use of additional spectrum in the 1800 MHz band to allow the operators to increase the capacity of their land mobile service networks without causing loss of quality of service.

ANACOM also states that there is further spectrum availability to satisfy any further requests of a similar nature.
