Declaration issued to MINHOCOM for the provision of leased lines, Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and Internet access resale service
05.08.2011By order of 5 August 2011, and under the terms of the Law of Electronic Communications (Law No. 5/2004 of 10 February), a declaration has been issued to the company MINHOCOM - Gestão de Infraestruturas de Telecomunicações, EIM. authorising provision of leased lines services, Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and Internet access resale services.
Internet: Set of interconnected computer networks in TCP/IP extending around the world, which connects users to companies, pubic administration institutions, universities and other individuals, where servers of information and services (www, email, etc.) are available. It can be accessed with a computer and a modem, through a service provider.
Leased circuit: Telecommunications resource of a public network which provides transmission between two terminal points not involving user controlled switching function. It is a permanent point to point circuit for exclusive use by its client(s) and may be used for voice communication or the transmission of data or image.
Virtual Private Network (VPN): Virtual private network treated as dedicated lines between these places used by a company or private group to carry out connections between places for voice or data communications. The equipment used remains in the premises of the public telecommunications operator and is an integral part of the public network, but it has software which allows a genuine private network.
