BEREC publishes opinion on proposals of the Netherlands and Denmark

  Audio

On 27 March 2012, the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) published two "opinions" related to notifications made by the European Commission (EC) to the Netherlands and to Denmark pursuant to article 7a (1) of the Framework Directive.

The EC considered that the draft regulations proposed might affect trade between Member States and determined their suspension in January, initiating an investigation pursuant to the Framework Directive.

As such the proposals of the Dutch Regulator (OPTA) to amend termination tariffs  in the fixed service and in the mobile service and the proposal of the Danish regulator (Danish Business Authority, DBA) on the regulation of wholesale SMS termination tariffs  in the single market are placed under investigation.

The documents which are now published by BEREC result from close cooperation between this Body and the Commission in the analysis of these matters.
