  Audio

On 25 April 2012, the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) published two opinions related to the notifications made by the European Commission (EC) to Latvia and to the Netherlands pursuant to Article 7a (1) of the Framework Directive.

The EC expressed serious doubts with regard to the draft regulations presented to it and opened phase II investigations, placing the regulations under discussion in accordance with the procedure stipulated in the Framework Directive.

As such, analysis will be conducted covering the proposal of the Latvian regulator (Sabiedrisko Pakalpojumu Regul?šanas Komisija, SPRK) as regards the review of the wholesale market for voice call termination on individual networks and the proposal of the Dutch regulator (Independent Post and Telecommunications Authority - OPTA) as regards the offer of optical fibre in the business segment (FTTO)

The documents which have been published by BEREC stem from the close cooperation between this body and the Commission in the analysis of such issues.
