An EMERG workshop on Network Security was held last 19-20 June in the Swiss city of Biel/Bienne, promoted by Switzerland’s Bundesamt für Kommunikation (BAKOM) and Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA). The discussions focused on each country’s respective framework for network integrity, legal interception, government intervention and network control, and control of malware and mobile/internet spam. National regulatory authority (NRA) representatives from Palestine, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal, Tunisia and Switzerland attended, along with the team of consultants on New Approaches to Telecommunications Policies (NATP-3). The next EMERG workshop will be held in Berlin on 11-12 July and focus on international roaming.
