ANACOM's campaign to raise awareness and inform the Portuguese population about the upcoming transition from analogue to digital television broadcasting had the following objectives:

  • To ensure that the population was properly prepared for the change in good time, so that everyone would still be able to watch television when it became available in digital format only, taking into account the switch-off schedule.
     
  • To ensure that the population had good information to prepare for DTT, making the switch an easy and positive experience, and in particular making sure that people were clear on:
     
    • What they needed to do to get ready for DTT.
    • When they needed to get ready.
    • Where they can go if they need help or if they have questions.

The campaign was developed in 3 waves:

  • First wave - from 28.11.2011 to 12.12.2011
     
  • Second wave - from 02.01.2012 to 17.01.2012
     
  • Third wave - from 12.04.2012 to 01.05.2012

RTP collaborated with ANACOM in disseminating the campaign, by providing free space for insertions in RTP2, RTP Azores, RTP Madeira and RTP International, as well as on the radio stations belonging to the group, broadcasting the ad more frequently in RTP1, beyond the contracted insertions.

Glossary
DTT - Digital Terrestrial Television: Name given to the system of digital television broadcasting by herzian or terrestrial means, based on the DVB-T standard, which replaced the terrestrial analogue system.
