Universal service


This area contains information about the universal postal service, which consists of the offer of a set of services, as defined in the Lei Postal (Postal Lawhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1127982), of specified quality, provided throughout the national territory at prices which are accessible to all users, and whose aim is to satisfy the communication needs of the population and those of economic and social activities. The Lei Postal (Postal Law) sets out that the universal service comprises a postal service, of a national and international scope, for postal items, excluding direct mail, and also for catalogues, books, newspapers and other periodicals weighing up to 2 kg and postal parcels weighing up to 10 Kg, as well as services for registered items and insured items. The universal service also covers the delivery of postal packages within the national territory where received from other Member States of the European Union and weighing up to 20 kg. The universal service does not cover express mail services.
