Mobile communication services on board vessels

By determination of 1 July 2010, ANACOM approved a draft decision on the introduction of mobile communication services on board vessels (MCV services), which will use the 880-915/925-960 MHz and 1710-1785/1805-1880 MHz frequency bands.

This draft decision was submitted to the general consultation procedure provided for under article 8 of the Law of Electronic Communications, whereby interested parties are given a period of 20 working days to assess the matter. As such, comments should be received no later than 4 August 2010 and should be sent, preferably, by email to consulta.mcv@anacom.pt. Each email may contain one or more files as long as the total size of all files does not exceed 10 megabytes and, if necessary, comments may be divided into two or more emails.

Once the consultation process has been concluded, commentary received will be published on this website, whereby respondents should clearly mark any items considered confidential.

Glossary
Frequency Band: Group of frequencies for the provision of services, through the use of technology and suitable equipment.
MHz - Megahertz: Multiple of the Hertz unit of frequency, equalling a million Hertz (a million cycles per second).
