Glossary
Next generation network:
Term which refers, simultaneously, to the integration of current different types of networks and services into a single concept, allowing lower costs in terms of operation and maintenance, as well as the convergence of services. With respect to the access network, the term is commonly used to describe the total or partial substitution of copper on the local loops by fibre-optic. This allows a five-fold increase in speed.
