Alterations to operating channels of DTT Mux A
09.03.2011 | Final decisionBy determination of 9 March 2011, ANACOM approved a final decision regarding the alteration of some operating channels of Multiplexer A (Mux A) of the digital terrestrial television service (DTT), assigned to PT Comunicações for the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores.
A new draft decision on the alteration of the DTT operating channel assigned for Mainland Portugal (replacing channel 67 for channel 56) was also approved, and submitted to the prior hearing and general consultation procedures.
Approval was likewise given to the report of the prior hearing and general consultation procedures to which the corresponding draft decision, of 22 December 2010, was submitted, in the scope of which responses were received from Associação Portuguesa de Radiodifusão, Grupo Portugal Telecom, Optimus – Comunicações, Vodafone Portugal, João Paulo Machado, José Ilídio Morais and José Paulo Rosa. According to its competences, a contribution was also obtained from ERC - Entidade Reguladora para a Comunicação Social (Regulatory Authority for the Media).

DTT - Digital Terrestrial Television: Name given to the system of digital television broadcasting by herzian or terrestrial means, based on the DVB-T standard, which replaced the terrestrial analogue system.
Multiplexing: Process which describes the grouping of elements referring to diverse sources of information, including signalisation, on the same physical channel, divided by frequency (FDM), time (TDM) or wavelengths (WDM).
