Summary:
The April 2012 issue of the Spectru monthly bulletin contains items on changes affecting the equipment subsidy and co-payment programmes associated to satellite coverage (DTH) of digital terrestrial television (DTT), the ANACOM meeting with local authorities to prepare the last phase of the analogue TV signal switch-off, ratification of the agreement signed by Optimus, TMN and Vodafone Portugal on the precise location of spectrum assigned to those operators in the 1800 MHz band and the consultation on renewal of the frequency usage rights granted to Optimus in the 900 and 1800 MHz frequency band.
Other highlights include disclosure of ANACOM’s final decision on the required procedures for terminating contracts, publication of the guide titled “Problems with Your Operator? Know What to Do and Who to Contact” and the consultation on the draft decree-law establishing the universal electronic communications service compensation fund.

DTH - Direct-to-home: Distribution over cable networks, by satellite.
DTT - Digital Terrestrial Television: Name given to the system of digital television broadcasting by herzian or terrestrial means, based on the DVB-T standard, which replaced the terrestrial analogue system.
Electronic Communications Universal Service: The minimum set of services, defined in the Electronic Communications Law (Law no. 5/2004 of 10 February), of a specified quality, which is available to all users regardless of their geographical location and, in the light of national conditions, at an affordable price.
