EC Communications Committee meeting - Brussels
The Communications Committee (COCOM) held a meeting last 26 April in Brussels. A situation report was given regarding transposition of the regulatory framework for electronic communications which indicated that 18 European Union (EU) member states had completed the transposition process.
The European Commission described the initiative meant to lower broadband development costs and reported results from the meeting on emergency situations in the scope of ‘112’ implementation. Also presented were the revised COCOM rules of procedure in the wake of the new rules for committee procedures.
Lastly, the proposed Commission recommendation concerning notification procedures in the scope of article 22, section 3, of the Universal Service Directive was presented and discussed.
