list of parishes lacking mobile broadband coverage - consultation


By determination of 31 August 2012, ANACOM approved the draft decision on the list of parishes lacking mobile broadband coverage, for the purposes laid down in paragraphs 1 to 4 of article 34 of Regulation no. 560-A/2011 of 19 October (Regulation of the Auction for the allocation of rights of use of frequencies in the 450 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands).

With a view to identifying the parishes as tend to lack mobile broadband coverage and the subsequent selection thereof by the operators concerned (Vodafone Portugal, TMN and Optimus), the approved draft decision sets out the methodology for identifying and approving a list of 480 parishes, establishing also the subsequent selection procedure.

This draft decision was submitted to the prior hearing of Vodafone Portugal, TMN and Optimus and to public consultation, with a period of 20 working days provided for respondents to comment under both procedures As such, comments should be submitted no later than 1 October 2012, and should be sent by email to lista-freg-BLM@anacom.ptmailto:lista-freg-BLM@anacom.pt1. Any indication of confidentiality of information transmitted must comply, under both procedures, with the requirements set out in paragraph 3 of article 108 of Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Law - Law no. 5/2004 of 10 February, as republished by Law no. 51/2011 of 13 September) and in ANACOM determination of 17 November 2011.

Once the consultation process has been concluded, the contributions received will be made public, whereby interested parties should also submit a non-confidential version of their responses, excluding items considered confidential for the purposes of publication on this website.
