Summary:
The April 2012 issue of the Spectru monthly bulletin includes articles about ANACOM’s decision not to oppose the proposed rates for universal postal service, approval of the draft decision on results from the audit of the net costs of universal service provided by PT Comunicações (PTC) and the declaration of conformity of the latter’s cost accounting system in financial year 2007. Other highlights include the speech by the chair of the ANACOM board of directors, Fátima Barros, at the closing session of the 4th Lusophone Communications Forum.
This issue also reports about the end of subsidy and cost-sharing programmes for digital terrestrial television (DTT) on 26 April 2013, a date marking the first year since the final switch-off of analogue TV transmissions.

DTT - Digital Terrestrial Television: Name given to the system of digital television broadcasting by herzian or terrestrial means, based on the DVB-T standard, which replaced the terrestrial analogue system.
Universal Postal Service: Offer of postal services of a specific quality, permanently available, provided throughout national territory at prices accessible to all users, aiming to satisfy the communication needs of the population and those of economic and social activities.
US - Universal Service: In portuguese, Serviço Universal (SU). In general terms, universal service (US) is taken as meaning the minimum set of services of a specified quality which is available to all users at an affordable price.
