Work conclusions of the Interministrial Group about the exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields
The interministrial Group of the ministries of Infrastructure, Economy, Health, and Science and Technology, established by Joint Order no. 8/2002 of 7 January with the aim of assessing the population?s exposure to electromagnetic fields, and which counts the participation of the Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM), finished its work on 7 April.
Based on current scientific knowledge, the working group?s report, which must be approved by the ministers involved, recommends adoption of the reference levels and basic limits set in the Recommendation of the Council of the European Union no. 1999/519/EC of 12 July 1999.
It also presents a set of recommendations that aim to enhance protection of the general population, namely the protection of workers and consumers, as well as to obtain better security in the use of medical equipment.
