Published Recommendation on the single European emergency call number

It was published, in the Official Journal of the European Union (L189/49) of 29 of July, an European Commission Recommendation, dated of 25 July 2003, on the processing of caller location information in electronic communication networks for the purpose of location-enhanced emergency call services.
 
This Recommendation, having regard to the framework directive and the universal service directive of the electronic communications new regulatory framework, presents a set of principles and harmonized conditions to make caller location information available to authorities handling emergencies for all calls made to the number 112.

The 112 number was introduced by the Member States in public telephone networks as the single European emergency call number, in 1992.
