NET.mede - one full year online

A year ago, on 2 December 2013, ANACOM completed the public launch of NET.mede, a tool that consumers can use to check the actual speed of their Internet service (fixed and mobile) and compare it to the maximum speed contracted with their service providers.

NET.mede can also be used to test for traffic shaping or the management of application speeds by operators.

During its first year online, NET.mede recorded around 329,000 users, with an average duration per session of about four minutes.

ANACOM is now working on a new version of the tool, NET.mede Pro, to be made available shortly; among other parameters, this version will test the Internet speed of smartphones and will allow a history of performed tests to be stored.
