Consultation on amendments to DTT right of use of frequencies (MUX A)


On 22 September 2016, ANACOM approved a draft decision on amending the conditions attached to the right of use of frequencies allocated to MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia S.A. (MEO) for the digital terrestrial television broadcasting service (DTT) - Multiplexer A (MUX A).

The determinations of Resolution of Council of Ministers no. 37-C/2016https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1391120 of 8 July and of Law no. 33/2016https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1394191 of 24 August, as regards the reservation of capacity on MUX A and as regards the prices applicable to the DTT signal transmission and broadcasting service, call for amendment of the conditions attached to Right of Use of Frequencies ICP-ANACOM no. 06/2008 (allocated on a national basis to MEO).

These amendments need to be incorporated into the corresponding authorisation title, whereby approval was also given to the draft title, which will re-issued to enshrine this right of use of frequencies.

This draft decision was submitted to the prior hearing of interested parties (MEO, RTP, SIC, TVI and ARTV - Canal Parlamento) under the terms of Código de Procedimento Administrativo (Administrative Proceeding Code) and also to the general consultation procedure, as under article 8 of LCE - Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Lawhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=333114).

Under both procedures, interested parties are granted a period of 20 working days to comment (in writing and in Portuguese). As such, comments should be sent no later than 21 October 2016 by email to consulta-duftdt@anacom.ptmailto:consulta-duftdt@anacom.pt1.

Once the consultation process has been concluded, the contributions received will be made public. Therefore, for the purposes of publication on this website, interested parties should also submit a non-confidential version of their responses excluding any items considered confidential.
