Clarifications regarding the determination of 21.2.2001
16.05.2001Upon determination of 16th of May 2001, it was confirmed the understanding set out in the deliberation approved on 21st of February 2001, in terms of including Internet traffic in the interconnection, with which the regime and instruments foreseen in Decree-Law no. 415/98, of 31st of December, are related.
It was further clarified that, irrespective of the associated means of transmission, the conditions of the Internet Access Reference Proposal are applicable to Internet traffic, under the terms foreseen in the said proposal - particularly the off-peak-period price level. In effect, at this moment, there is no possible technical grounds showing that the interconnection of Internet traffic cannot be carried out by using interconnection lines, including the SS#7 signalling system, without prejudice to the implementation of new network architectures and the rationalisation of the corresponding means of transmission, with a view to optimising traffic management and using or occupying network resources more efficiently.
