By deliberation of July 27, 2000, it was recommended that PT Comunicações, S.A. should reformulate its prices for CAM (Continent - Azores - Madeira) leased lines, in consideration of the terms of point 1 of Article 28 of the Regulations of Operation of Public Telecommunications Networks and the need to prevent the creation of tariff barriers that will impede the development of competition in the Autonomous Regions of Azores and Madeira. This tariff reformulation should reflect available technology and the potential benefits in terms of increased use, resulting from price reductions.

Subsequently, by deliberation of December 21, 2000, ICP decided not to oppose implementation of the price list for CAM leased lines presented by PT Comunicações, SA to enter into force on January 1, 2001, because it will result in a reduction in prices, considered to be desirable. Nonetheless, ICP will continue to analyse the issue from the technological and economic viewpoint, taking into consideration the conditions of the provision of the leased lines service throughout national territory.
