The Commission launched a public consultation on the regulation to be applied to the termination rates of voice calls on the fixed and mobile networks. Interested parties should send their comments to 
infso-termination@c.europa.eu, with the period for responding to the consultation closing on 03 September.
The consultation has its basis in a draft EC Recommendation on the regulatory treatment of fixed and mobile termination rates in Europe, which includes clear principles on the cost components to be taken into account by national sectoral regulators when setting termination rates. It also includes an efficient cost determination methodology and symmetric regulation. The Commission is taking note of the position of the European Regulators Group (ERG) in a move toward a more coherent regulation of termination rates.
