The 20th ANACOM seminar saw the presentation of ''The Work of the Communications Consumer Panel'' by Roger Darlington, a founder member of the United Kingdom's Communications Consumer Panel (previously the Ofcom Consumer Panel). The seminar was held in Lisbon’s SANA Malhoa Hotel on 27 March at 3.30pm.
Britain has adopted a number of different models for ensuring that the consumer interest is represented to various regulators and Roger Darlington explains the method used in respect of Ofcom, the UK regulator for telecommunications, broadcasting and spectrum issues (and soon postal matters). Roger has been the Member for England on the Communication Consumer Panel since its creation in February 2004. He explains how the Panel is chosen and how it operates and describe how the Panel makes policy and represents this policy to Ofcom and other relevant bodies.
