New Generation Networks - Selection Board and clarifications

By determination taken by ANACOM on 17 June 2009, the selection board of the public tender for the installation, management, operation and maintenance of high-speed electronic communications networks in the Centre zone of mainland Portugal has been appointed. This Board is chaired by Anselmo Rodrigues, having also been appointed Luís Correia and Stefen Hoernig as members and Adolfo Cartaxo and Sérgio do Cabo as alternate members.

Under point 11.1 of the tender program, interested parties may request clarification, in writing, on documents of the procedure, for purposes of good understanding and interpretation, clarification procedures having also been made available.

Glossary
Next generation network: Term which refers, simultaneously, to the integration of current different types of networks and services into a single concept, allowing lower costs in terms of operation and maintenance, as well as the convergence of services. With respect to the access network, the term is commonly used to describe the total or partial substitution of copper on the local loops by fibre-optic. This allows a five-fold increase in speed.
