Maritime Mobile Service
VHF (hectometric waves) National Frequencies Plan

The article 9 of Decree-Law no. 179/97 of July 24th establishes that the National frequencies plan for the maritime mobile services shall be approved by a joint ministerial order to be issued by the Ministers of National Defense and Infrastructures, Planning and Territorial Administration on the basis of a proposal to be submitted by ICP – Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações.

Having this as its main objective and bearing in mind the determinations of  radiocommunications world-wide conferences, carried through in 1997 and 2000, the VHF (hectometric waves) National Frequencies Plan for the Maritime Mobile Service was submitted to a revision.

Thus, it is made public, by determination of the Board of Directors of the ICP – Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações, of 4 April 2003, that the coastal and ships radiocommunication stations should start to operate in compliance with the VHF (hectometric waves) National Frequencies Plan, approved by Decree-Law no. 630/2002, of 12 June, from 1 August 2003.
