With the aim of increasing the circulation of news published on its website in Portuguese and English, ANACOM has been present on Twitter since 2 February 2009.

Launched in the United States in March 2006, Twitter is currently one of the largest social networking sites on the Internet in terms of the number of users, attracting individuals and public and private organisations. Twitter is based on the sharing of small posts which answer the question ''What are you doing?'', and allows users to post small messages of up to 140 characters, functioning like a microblog.

Making information available in this new way and adapting to new challenges and to the natural evolution of the social networking phenomenon, ANACOM aims to raise awareness of its activity among a wider public and with an image that is more current, modem and innovative.

The first results of the official presence of this Authority on Twitter are very satisfactory. The number of ANACOM followers has grown exponentially, with numbers rising from 179 followers in August to 289 at the end of September, an increase of 64%.
