NOTAS:

"With economic uncertainty, and economies stagnating, telecoms suppliers are anxious to know what
changes are occurring on the buy side of the market. They are particularly interested in what telcos are
buying and where they are likely to invest in the next 12–18 months, and the opportunities that exist
given the fragile growth outlook that the industry will experience in the next five years
This report analyzes revenue, capex, and opex from the top 20 telcos (by revenue), plus four significant
telcos in emerging markets, and examines the implications of contracts awarded in 2012. Our research
considers telcos’ publicly announced contracts with vendors of telecoms networks and telco IT
equipment, software, and services.
Ovum's analysis of the data set for calendar year 2012 showed that telcos' revenue, capex, and opex
growths slowed down across the board. This has affected the telcos' behavior and the flow of their
publicized network and IT contract awards. They are countering competition by identifying improved
methods of service delivery, taking a leaner and more agile approach to operations, and maximizing the
value of their current assets at the lowest cost possible. The main network equipment provider (NEP)
players maintained their lead positions in the network domain; however, smaller players with specialist
skills in the IT domain are winning contracts."
