NOTAS: | "After years of under-penetration and sluggish performance in the European paging market, several factors have converged to propel subscriber growth across the region. Net subscriber additions peaked in 1997, with about 2.5 million new paging subscribers. In European Paging / Messaging Markets: 1998, the Strategis Group projects the installed paging subscriber base to increase 8.9 million. The key components of rising demand for paging service in Europe have been the introduction of Calling Party Pays (CPP) paging, the increasing adoption of high speed paging protocols and improved marketing and distribution. Over the next five years, these effects are likely to diminish, and in conjunction with the competitive forces of the cellular industry, the paging industry will experience more moderate growth. Regionally, France, the UK, Germany, Spain, Russia and the Netherlands are projected to lead subscriber growth, and by 2003 will account for 76 percent of Europe's total subscriber base." |
