| NOTAS: | "Architectures and competitive models in fibre networks Vodafone Group contracted WIK-Consult to analyse the impact of different FTTH architectures and wholesale access options on investment, cost and competition. Two cost models and a competition model were designed for this purpose. A steady state cost model enabled analysis of investment, cost and profitability and also provided cost functions that were used to feed a 4-stage game in the competitive model. The latter model provided insights on market equilibria regarding number of entrants, prices, market shares, consumer and producer surplus as well as total welfare for different FTTH technologies and access options. In addition, a dynamic cost analysis also looked at the timing of investments and cost in a successive network roll-out including initial periods with low take-up of service. The study was conducted in cooperation with an external scientific team led by Prof. Ingo Vogelsang." |
