"The Observatory on the Online Platform Economy monitors the evolution of the online platform economy, to advise and support the Commission in its policy making in relation to online platforms. The Observatory looks into the current and emerging challenges and opportunities for the EU; it also monitors the implementation of the Regulation on promoting fairness and transparency for business users of online platforms (P2B Regulation). The Observatory consists of a group of independent experts and a dedicated team of Commission officials, supported in its work by the study on ‘Support to the Observatory on the Online Platform Economy’. The study was implemented in 2018-2020. The study team undertook an economic overview of the European platform economy, implemented eight analytical papers, and developed an online tool that was used to present the activities of the Observatory and to reach out to stakeholders." |
