NOTAS:

Survey requested by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs and co-ordinated by the Directorate-General for Communication
"The aim of this Special Eurobarometer survey is to understand EU citizens’ awareness, experiences and perceptions of cyber security. It is partly based on four previous surveys, the Special Eurobarometer EB480 “Internet security” (EB90.2, November 2018), Special Eurobarometer 464a on “Cyber security” (EB 87.4, June 2017), the Special Eurobarometer 423 on “Cyber security” (EB82.2, October 2014) and
the Special Eurobarometer 404 on “Cyber security” (EB 79.4, May-June 2013). Where appropriate, this report compares the findings of the current survey with the results of the previous surveys. The report begins by reviewing Internet use amongst respondents, as well as the devices they use for access and the activities they do online. It moves on to discuss respondents’ concerns about various aspects of online security, including concerns about online banking or shopping online. It also considers changes respondents have made to their behaviour as a result of concerns about security and privacy, such as changing online passwords. The third chapter looks at respondents’ level of information about the risks of cybercrime, how they feel about a wide range of issues relating to cyber security, and their level of concern about becoming a victim of cybercrime. The discussion then moves to considers respondents personal experience of cybercrime, as well as their awareness of other people who have experienced it. The actions taken by victims of cybercrime are also discussed. In the final section of this chapter, the measures taken by respondents to protect children from online harassment are detailed. The last chapter of the report explores respondents’ awareness of where they can report a cybercrime or illegal online behaviour, as well as the incidence of reporting these crimes. The actions respondents would take if they were a victim of a range of cybercrimes are also discussed."
