"This publication is the Final Report of the study "Impact of the introduction of multicore technologies on the computing market and opportunities for Europe," assigned by the European Commission, DG CNECT to IDC. The overall objective of this study is to support the Horizon 2020 strategy in the computing area through a thorough assessment of the changes to the hardware and software market that are driven by the current use, and predicted growth, of multicore and heterogeneous system on chip processors. Recommendations are made along the following lines:- Business Models Innovation and Reorganization of the Value Chain- Research and Innovation in Horizon 2020- Organization of Research- Developing Pilot Lines and Research in Cutting-Edge Manufacturing Technologies in Europe- Building on the Low Power Ecosystem- Remove Barriers to Growth for High-Tech SMEs- Promote Education and Skills in Parallel Programming and Multicore Technologies." |
