NOTAS: | "The radio access network (RAN) equipment market generated approximately $40bn in revenues during 2011, 14% growth compared with 2010. Ovum forecasts growth in 2012 will be near 7%, with LTE deployments and HSPA/HSPA+ network upgrades playing a major role in driving that growth. Growth will slow over time as HSPA/HSPA+ upgrades taper off, and as multi-standard base stations lower the capex requirements to move from 3G to LTE. Ovum estimates that the three largest RAN vendors by revenues – Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, and Huawei – accounted for approximately 73% of market revenues in 2011. Some of the vendors not in that top three hope to use metro (pico/micro) cells to gain a bigger piece of the overall market." |
