NOTAS:

Excerto do folheto de apresentação da obra:
"VoIP is at the center of a movement to converge data and voice networks. This convergence is taking place on carrier lines, but also within corporate LANs, WANs and VPNs. The business market is much larger than simply long distance arbitrage. IP traffic has been growing at an exponential rate, and there are many reasons to expect it to continue at an accelerated pace. The number of Internet users continues to double each year. New broadband technology, like cable modems and ADSL, are coming to market. Finally, bandwidth-intensive applications are emerging on the Internet, including streaming video and voice. Converging data and telephone networks into one systems is hailed as the future market for VoIP. Hardware is already available to converge these networks, but concerns over standards, quality of service and compatibility with other systems must be overcome first. VoIP is viewed by many telcos as the technology that will enable voice and data to migrate to one single network, eliminating the need to maintain and upgrade two separate networks. It is VoIP's greater potential for converging data and voice, and the potential applications arising from this, that have revolutionize communications."
