Fixed markets are evolving from a single SMP position to oligopoly market structures, driven by the deployment of NGA networks and technological convergence; mergers and acquisitions are reducing the number of undertakings and there is an increased move to supplying bundled services so just a limited number of operators own both fixed and mobile network infrastructures.
BEREC drafted a report on oligopoly analysis and regulation in order to determine whether the current regulatory toolkit and/or its practical application is adequate to tackle oligopoly issues. The report was submitted it for public consultation in June 2015 to get the views from stakeholders on such a relevant topic from a forward looking perspective." |
