NOTAS:

"Internet of Things (IoT) technologies bring many benefits. From smart homes to wearables, from precision agriculture to disaster management, the IoT devices have revolutionized our daily lives. At the same time, these technologies raise important ethical questions. As more and more material objects become connected to the Internet and collect and share data, privacy, safety and security concerns become more complicated. Other challenges are related to the potential of data misuse and biases of sensors and the algorithms. The ethics of IoT is also about society, culture and political life. IoT might have significant implications for education, healthcare, and policing. The World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) of UNESCO reflects in this report on the ways in which IoT technologies affect human beings and societies and explores whether the IoT devices could be designed in a value-sensitive way. Based on the identified ethical challenges, COMEST puts forth concrete recommendations on how governments, private sector and civil society need to address them."
