NOTAS:

A study prepared for the European Commission DG Communications Networks, Content & Technology by IHS Markit, OMDIA and Point Topic
"The broadband coverage in Europe study monitors the progress of EU Member States in reaching the objectives of the Digital Agenda to Europe. In particular, it monitors progress towards ‘universal broadband coverage with speeds of at least 30Mbps by 2020’ and ‘50% of households should have broadband subscriptions of 100Mbps or more by 2020’. They also measure progress towards a European Gigabit Society, including ‘universal connectivity offering a downlink of at least 100Mbps, upgradable to Gigabit speed by 2025. The data in this study reflects the situation at the end of June 2020, compared to the end of June 2019. It covers 31 countries across Europe: the EU27, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and the UK. Among other discoveries, the data shows that more than 186.8 million EU households (97.4%) had access to one of the main fixed broadband access technologies by the end of June 2020. And, 59.3% of homes were covered by technologies capable of supporting digital speeds. Although the study shows rural broadband coverage to be below national coverage across the EU, it has been increasing at a consistent pace year on year, and around 1.8 million additional rural households had access to next-generation broadband services compared to in June 2019."
