| NOTAS: | The development of Next-Generation Networks for video delivery will usher in a new wave of set-top-box (STB) technology that will use emerging national/regional standards to create equipment that converges multiple video and data services into a central control unit. Today, the convergence of the personal video recorder (PVR) and STB is taking place, including enabling high-definition (HD) content delivery.
Using OpenCable standards and IP networks, STBs will evolve to include DOCSIS Set-Top Gateways (DSGs) and dual tuners to enable concurrent video access for multiple television sets or PVR functions. Digital-cable-ready TVs (DCRTVs) will promote the effort to create home networks, and satellite and over-the-air video networks will integrate on-demand services through new technology.
