| NOTAS: | "Cloud infrastructures and services have become key building blocks of digital society. As more organisations migrate their infrastructure and services to the cloud, the cloud industry has become a key enabler of digital businesses and a vital infrastructure of the economy as a whole. Given its strategic and economic importance, the European Union (EU) and Member States are increasingly intervening in the cloud sector. Following the data strategy and the Commission’s guidelines, the current Commission has recently enacted a myriad of policy initiatives and regulations that have been concerned with competition in the cloud industry, interoperability issues, and cloud security. At the same time, national competition authorities have been undertaking investigations into cloud markets with a focus on their functioning." |
