The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-08) of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T is being held from 21 to 30 October 2008 in the Emperor Palace Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The main goal of this event, which takes place every 4 years, is to set the general policy and procedures of the ITU-T. In accordance with Article 18 of the Constitution and Article 13 of the Convention, the WTSA is further charged with reviewing working methods including approval process, the work programme and the structure of Study Groups, including the respective chairs and vice-chairs.
As took place at the last Assembly, held in 2004 (WTSA-04), WTSA-08 will be preceded by a Global Standards Symposium at the same venue on 20 October.
