To participate in the development of the EU internal market, improving the internal performance (Objective 4)


This section of the report outlines the actions undertaken by ICP-ANACOM in representation of the Portuguese State at international meetings and organizations, as well as in the technical representation provided by this Authority, in the exercise of its duties and responsibilities, in the various fora of the European Union and at international organizations.

This objective is key among ICP-ANACOM's activities, with the areas related to external relations, regulation, spectrum management, communications security and enforcement participating in over 300 international meetings during 2010, involving some 400 participants from this Authority and totalling over 1,000 days.

In representation of the Portuguese State, ICP-ANACOM was particularly involved in the meetings of the EU (the Council and EC), which made up around one quarter of all the meetings in which it participated, and also took part in the meetings of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), comprising about 7 percent of all international meetings.

In terms of technical representation, meetings of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) made up about one quarter of all international meetings with meetings of BEREC making up around 13 percent.
