3. Sector representation at international level

ICP-ANACOM assures technical representation of the communications sector, thus complying with paragraph r) of section 1 of article 6 of its statutes, approved by Decree-Law no. 309/2001 of 7 December.

Regarding international representation, ICP-ANACOM is meant to ensure technical representation of the Portuguese State in international sector bodies, to monitor the activity of similar regulatory bodies and foreign communications regulation experience, and to establish relations with other regulatory bodies, as well as, at technical level, with community and international bodies. Such participation and representation of the Portuguese State is carried out in strict co-ordination with the members of government linked to the area of communications, and with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the telecom and postal operators, when applicable.

In this context, ICP-ANACOM also launches and monitors the process to transpose fundamental instruments of some of those international organisations into the internal legal order, as advisor to the Government (ministry responsible for communications and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
