Licensing and authorisation procedures

At the end of 2002 there were three entities licensed by ICP-ANACOM to provide non-reserved postal services covered in the scope of universal postal service, involving the distribution of books, catalogues, newspapers and other periodicals.

On the same date there were seven companies authorised to provide non-reserved postal services not covered by the scope of universal postal service, involving the provision of express mail services.

During the course of 2003, various actions were carried out to oversee the obligations stipulated in the postal service providers? licences and authorisations, which included inspection and investigation of companies active in the postal area without authorisation, as well as actions taken following complaints filed by the CTT ? Correios de Portugal.
