Cuban letter winner of UPU's International Letter-Writing Competition


The Portuguese participant in this year’s Universal Postal Union (UPU) international letter-writing competition, 14 year old Pedro Emanuel de Oliveira Sousa Marques, winner of the corresponding national letter-writing competition – received a 2nd note of honor awarded by UNESCO’s jury.

The winner of the competition was Lysbeth Daumont Robles, the 14 year old Cuban competitor, whose letter was addressed to the “the brave tin soldier” of Hans Christian Andersen’s stories. The second and third prizes were awarded to the Danish Catherine Dufour, 12 years old, and to the Montenegrin Katarina Jankovic, 13 years old.

This year, UPU’s letter-writing competition counted had the participation of more than three thousand teenagers of 56 countries, which involved about 25.000 schools.
