Cooperation - 13th ANACOM-ANATEL coordination meeting


The 13th ordinary meeting of the ANACOM-ANATEL Coordination Commission has taken place in Manaus (Brazil), on 23 and 24 March 2010 (representing Portugal’s National Communications Authority and Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency), pursuant to the cooperation protocol in force between the two regulators.

A range of issues were addressed at the meeting which were of interest to both institutions, including the following:

  • relevant regulatory measures taken since the last meeting (2008), as well as measures being studied: ITED/ITUR regulation in a scenario of next generation networks;
  • reform and/or restructuring and design of the regulator in a convergent environment;
  • spectrum management: digital terrestrial television (DTT) - switch off and digital dividend;
  • new European regulatory framework for electronic communications and coordination with respect to various international issues.
