Portugal presents ITSO Director General candidate

The Portuguese government has recently submitted the candidacy of José Manuel Toscano, currently Director of External Relations at the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO), to the position of Director General of this organization.

An engineer by training, José Toscano has been active in the telecommunications sector for more than 25 years, both nationally and internationally, having exercised functions at ITSO, Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM), the European Commission, in companies, universities and in various regional and international regulatory bodies, including within the scope of the European Union, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT).

In view of his current position at ITSO and his many years of high-level international experience, as well as the leadership role he has performed at numerous governmental negotiations, the submission of his candidacy is a solid contribution to the development of global satellite communications.

The leader of the organization, who will succeed the current Director General, Ahmed Toumi, will be elected at the next Assembly of Parties, to be held in Estoril from 6 to 10 October.
