EC harmonises 3400-3800 MHz frequency band

The European Commission (EC) has adopted a decision on the harmonisation of the 3400-3800 MHz frequency band for terrestrial systems capable of providing electronic communications services in the European Union (EU).

This decision of 21 May establishes that, six months after entry into force, EU Member States shall designate and make available the 3400-3600 MHz band for terrestrial electronic communications networks (fixed, nomadic and mobile applications), in compliance with the parameters set out in the annex to the decision.

With respect to the 3600-3800 MHz band, the deadline is extended until 1 January 2012. In both cases, countries shall ensure that there is appropriate protection of adjacent bands.
