RTP permits - use of frequencies for analogue television broadcasting

By determination of 16 April 2008, ANACOM has approved the issue of permits that embody and give concrete form to the rights of use for frequencies of Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, S.A.  (RTP) for analogue TV  broadcasting, allocated to RTP1, RTP2, RTP Açores and RTP Madeira’s programming services.

Rights of use for frequencies associated with RP1, RTP Açores and RTP Madeira’s services are in force for the term of the general concession contract of the television public service, which expires on 27 August 2019. On the other hand, rights of use for frequencies relating to RTP2’s services are in force for the term of the special concession contract of the television public service, which expires on 27 August 2011.

In either case, these terms  do not prejudice any alterations that may be introduced in the NFAP (National Frequency Allocation Plan), especially those that result from the establishment of the switch-off date for analogue system television broadcasts. In this situation, ANACOM will recover, with no added charges, such rights of use for frequencies.

This decision, which follows the conclusion of the procedure of the RTP prior hearing on the respective drafts approved by determination of 12 March 2008, is the final decision in the scope of the process associated with RTP’s rights of use for frequencies for analogue television broadcasting, which started with the general consultation procedure launched on 21 January 2008.
