The Universal Postal Union (UPU) has recently released statistics on the development, around the world, of the postal service in 2006. The statistics contain information based on data, supplied by 163 of the Union's 191 country members, in respect of the provision of the universal postal service by the respective designated operators.
Among the UPU's key conclusions, the statistics reveal a stabilisation in the volume of correspondence, an increase in the volume of parcels and high levels of postal revenue.
