ANACOM gave approval on 28 November 2007 to the disclosure of the shares of subscribers, customers and traffic of the providers of the telephone service at a fixed location (FTS).
This disclosure will allow, during the current development of competition in these markets, the growth of knowledge about the sector, and may serve as a reference for its analysis. It will also provide transparency and ensure full access to information permitting better choices and decisions. The improved transparency and knowledge brought about by the publication of these indicators will contribute not only to better user clarification but also to the development of markets and competition.
A prior hearing of interested parties was held on the respective draft decision, approved on 19 October 2007, and the report on this hearing, forms an integral part of the determination that has now been approved.
The disaggregated information governed by this ANACOM decision will be included in the FTS statistical reports, released on a quarterly basis and published by this Authority on this website, as has already occurred with Internet access services, where the report on the 3rd quarter of 2007 includes the evolution of customer shares by operator for fixed access. It is also planned to include data disaggregated by operator in the next report on the subscription television signal distribution service.
